About Defence Observer

A trusted Indian voice in global defence and strategic affairs

An India-focused, globally oriented defence and strategic affairs institution, inspired by the vision of Surakshit Seema – Samarth Bharat (Safe Borders – Strong India). Defence journalism must do more than report what happened; it must explain why it matters.

Who we are

Its interests span land, air, sea, space and cyber, because national security is shaped by technology, industrial capacity, diplomacy, intelligence and partnerships as well as military strength. Our outlook is global. Our perspective is informed by India. Our responsibility is to the integrity of our work.

Chief Defence Observer: Ms. Parvati Jangid Suthar

The Sister of Soldiers · a vision rooted in national service.

For seventeen years Ms. Parvati Jangid Suthar, widely known as the Sister of Soldiers, has strengthened the bond between the people of India and the soldiers who guard its frontiers, celebrating Raksha Bandhan and Diwali with personnel in remote border areas and carrying a simple message: India remembers your service, honours your sacrifice and stands with you.

From Gagariya in Rajasthan, her commitment finds expression in the Bharat Raksha Parva Yatra and the ideal of Surakshit Seema – Samarth Bharat. As Chief Defence Observer she brings that service-oriented vision to examining India's defence preparedness, military capability, partnerships and the international developments shaping security. She has also helped hundreds of soldiers resolve personal, administrative and service-related problems.

The figures shown are those reported by her initiative and should be read in the context of its documented records.
